Academic Background
Pau García Alapont holds a degree in Biotechnology from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, where he completed his studies within the High Academic Performance Group, a program promoted by the Valencian Government to foster the talent of outstanding students. He subsequently earned a Master's degree in Biomedical Biotechnology from the same university, specializing in the biomedical field.
Research Career
Pau has several years of research experience in leading national and international laboratories in oncology and biomedicine. He has worked at the La Fe Health Research Institute, studying the Notch pathway as a predictive marker of response to immunomodulatory treatments in non-small cell lung cancer; at Jagiellonian University in Krakow (Poland), investigating the role of the epidermal protein Regnase-1 in diseases associated with chronic itching; and at the Institute of Biomedicine of Valencia (IBV-CSIC), developing tools against cancer by altering ribosome synthesis in proliferating cells. He also completed a research stay at the Max Perutz Labs of the Vienna BioCenter (Austria), optimizing super-resolution microscopy techniques (MINFLUX) for real-time monitoring of human proteins.
He is currently a PhD candidate in Physiology at the La Fe Health Research Institute, where he is developing his thesis, funded by a predoctoral grant from the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC). His research focuses on studying the mechanisms of resistance to targeted therapies in lung cancer, with the aim of identifying new therapeutic strategies and biomarkers that improve treatment response in cancer patients.
