Rhodiola rosea: the natural energy that balances body and mind, backed by science

In a society where mental and physical demands are constant, the search for balance has become a priority.

Tiredness, lack of concentration and emotional fatigue affect students, athletes and professionals alike. And although many turn to caffeine or artificial stimulants, science is showing that there are more sustainable natural alternatives, such as Rhodiola rosea, an adaptogenic plant capable of improving the body’s response to stress and enhancing its ability to recover.

In a world where physical and mental fatigue has become a constant—whether in front of a screen, at the gym or in the office—scientific studies are once again turning to nature. And among the most studied adaptogenic plants, Rhodiola rosea stands out as a unique ally for improving energy, concentration and stress resistance.

Rhodiola and its role in mental and visual fatigue: science confirms it

Today, thanks to research from European universities and specialized laboratories, we know that this plant not only helps us cope with the demands of everyday life, but also improves concentration, physical performance and emotional stability, providing real and balanced energy.

In this context, the University of Granada, in collaboration with Pharmanager Ingredients (France) and Life Pro Nutrition, has developed several pioneering studies in recent years using the standardized RhodioZen® extract, the same one used in the formulation of Daily Pro Energy from Life Pro Nutrition.

For their part, recent international studies on Rhodiola rosea, conducted in collaboration with researchers from the University of Granada—including doctors Carlos Alix-Fages and Pablo Jiménez-Martínez, members of the scientific R&D team at Life Pro Nutrition—confirm that this plant, far from being a simple natural stimulant, is a scientifically validated resource for improving the body’s ability to adapt to stress and optimizing the balance between body and mind.

Rhodiola and its role in mental and visual fatigue: science confirms it

In 2025, the team made up of Paula M. Lara, Jesús Vera, Daniel Marcos-Frutos, Carlos Alix-Fages, Pablo Jiménez-Martínez, Amador García-Ramos and Beatriz Redondo, from the Department of Optics and Sports Sciences at the University of Granada, together with researchers from the New England College of Optometry (USA) and the Universidad Católica de la Santísima Concepción (Chile), published a study in the scientific journal Ophthalmic and Physiological Optics entitled:

“Can Rhodiola rosea supplementation mitigate digital eye strain? A triple-blinded placebo-controlled study”.

This study investigated whether supplementation with Rhodiola rosea could mitigate the effects of digital eye strain (DES), a very common condition caused by prolonged screen use.

The results were conclusive: after four days of supplementation with 1,200 mg of RhodioZen® daily, participants showed a significant reduction in the variability of the ocular accommodative response (p = 0.007) and a decrease in the sensation of blurred vision at the end of demanding cognitive tasks (p = 0.009).

In addition, the authors support “the idea that Rhodiola rosea may improve visual stability and reduce symptoms of eye fatigue, acting as a modulator of visual and cognitive stress” (Vera et al., 2025).

Furthermore, in this study the authors reinforce the plant’s adaptogenic role: “Rhodiola rosea exerts its effects primarily through its active compounds, rosavins and salidrosides, which modulate the activity of the hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal axis and regulate neurotransmitters such as dopamine and serotonin” (Lara et al., Ophthalmic Physiol Opt., 2025).

In other words, Rhodiola not only protects the eyes from visual stress, but also helps the mind maintain focus and clarity during prolonged cognitive tasks. This is especially relevant in an era when we spend more than seven hours a day in front of screens.

Physical performance and resilience under pressure: a new perspective

In another study published the same year in the journal Nutrients under the title “The Impact of Rhodiola rosea Extract on Strength Performance in Alternative Bench-Press and Bench-Pull Exercises Under Resting and Mental Fatigue Conditions: A Randomized, Triple-Blinded, Placebo-Controlled, Crossover Trial” (Nutrients, 2025, doi: 10.3390/nu17060940), the international team led by the University of Granada and Pharmanager Ingredients (France)—which also included Carlos Alix-Fages and Pablo Jiménez-Martínez, along with researchers such as Daniel Marcos-Frutos, Paula M. Lara, Jesús Vera and Amador García-Ramos—explored how Rhodiola rosea influences physical performance under conditions of mental fatigue.

During the trial, participants performed strength exercises (bench press and bench pull) after four days of supplementation with RhodioZen® (1,200 mg/day).

The results were consistent: Rhodiola increased the number of completed repetitions and execution speed, even when the subjects were mentally fatigued. Of the 52 comparisons carried out, 17 showed significant or small improvements in favor of Rhodiola, with no side effects recorded.

The study concluded that “short-term supplementation with Rhodiola rosea is safe and provides ergogenic benefits for physical performance, especially in contexts of mental exhaustion” (Nutrients, 2025).

In the words of the research team, these results show that Rhodiola supports the connection between body and mind, helping maintain physical performance without compromising mental stability.

The adaptogenic power of Rhodiola: balance between science and nature

Both studies reinforce the role of Rhodiola rosea as a natural adaptogen: a substance that helps the body restore its balance in the face of physical, emotional and environmental stress.

Its bioactive compounds—rosavins and salidrosides—act on the central nervous system, reducing excess cortisol, improving cognitive function and promoting a feeling of calm and sustained energy, which increases the sensation of vitality.

Taken together, the authors agree that Rhodiola rosea improves mental performance, physical endurance and emotional well-being without causing dependence or excessive stimulation.
Both studies explain that “the true value of Rhodiola lies in its ability to increase the body’s resilience: it helps maintain performance when the body and mind are under pressure” (Redondo et al., 2025).

Daily Pro Energy: when science becomes daily well-being

Inspired by the evidence provided by these research teams, Life Pro Daily Pro Energy combines the RhodioZen® extract with other natural active ingredients of high functional value:

  • Ginseng and Ginkgo biloba, which support concentration, cerebral circulation and cognitive performance.
  • Safrasol® Saffron, with a positive effect on mood and motivation.
  • B vitamins (B6, B12, Niacin and Pantothenic Acid), essential for energy metabolism and reducing tiredness.
  • Zinc, which contributes to normal cognitive function and immune balance.

Its science-backed formula is designed to provide real, not artificial, energy:
energy that respects the body’s rhythms and promotes vitality throughout the day.

Whether facing an exam, an intense workday or a demanding training session, Daily Pro Energy helps maintain the body–mind connection, allowing you to perform better and live better.

Conclusion: the energy born from balance

The most recent studies developed alongside international institutions and the University of Granada—with the participation of experts such as Carlos Alix-Fages and Pablo Jiménez-Martínez—have shown that Rhodiola rosea goes far beyond being a simple natural stimulant.

Research demonstrates its ability to support the body’s response to physical and mental demands, helping maintain concentration, vitality and overall well-being.

Thanks to these scientific advances and its incorporation into the formulation of Daily Pro Energy, Rhodiola rosea is positioned as a leading natural support for those who wish to face the day with greater energy, clarity and balance.
